Newsletter 47 - Christmas 2018
Dear friends and supporters of the school and orphanage in Kenya.
I hope you are reading this on Christmas day. Possibly you have had your Christmas lunch or are about to have it.
Because you have enabled, by your generosity, many children to have a special meal this day, my prayer is that your food tastes all the sweeter for it. We at The Olive Branch Foundation continue to applaud you and look forward to one day taking you to meet the children you care for in a financial way. Why not come and see how your money is being spent. Come and have a life-changing experience.
During my recent visit earlier this month, I was happy to see the classrooms lit by power from the grid. A great step forward for our school. Our next goal is to install electric sockets as part of our ongoing upgrading of the electrical system. It wasn't cheap to get these lights on. We had to buy our own poles and overhead cables. We then had to find subcontractors to erect the poles and connect the cabling. Truly things are very different in Kenya.
The school is still going forward, and growth has peaked regarding numbers of pupils; however, the academic achievements of those pupils put us very high in the league tables of schools in our zone. We are continually in the top three. Not bad for a school that started on a wing and a prayer and was almost closed down by corrupt school inspectors because we would not give them a bribe!
I sincerely believe that this school is God's work, and if He is for us, who can be against us?
That just leaves me to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. At The Olive Branch Foundation we look forward to you standing with us for another year. We also pledge that we will continue to use your funding in a most wise and diligent manner.
May our God continue to bless you all.
